Portal lift with construction props
Two Bautri tripods with a beam between them: this creates a portal up to 4 m high with room underneath for a trailer, a vehicle or a pit. You determine the span through the beam you place on top. The beam can be a light formwork beam or – for higher loads – a steel beam. Built from the same EN 1065 construction props as the tripod.
A tripod that can also work as a portal. We know of no comparable tripod made from construction props that can also be used as a portal and a cantilever arm.
The Bautri system is DEKRA-tested for tensile and compressive loads of up to 3.3 t.
The beam, its fastening and the stability of the complete portal are not part of this test. They are selected, dimensioned and taken responsibility for by the user.
Where a portal can do more than a tripod.
With a tripod, the load hangs in the middle between the legs. With a portal, the area under the beam stays free – what would be in the way with a tripod fits in there.
Loading trailers and flatbeds
The portal spans the loading area: lift the load, drive the trailer underneath, set the load down – without a forklift and without a tail lift.
Over trenches and pits
The tripods stand left and right on load-bearing ground and the beam spans the opening. Manhole rings, pipes or pumps can be positioned above it.
Free space under the load
Between the tripods there is room for vehicles and bulky parts. The load is easily accessible from the side.
Which beam goes on the head plates?
The portal can be built with two types of beam. The choice depends on load and span – you set the span with the beam. The Bautri systems reach up to 4 m in height.
Formwork beam
Formwork beams are available almost everywhere, light and can be carried by one person. They are suitable for lighter loads.
Fastened on the head plate via adapted formwork heads.
Steel beam
Steel beams take considerably higher loads. Profiles with a flange width of 60 to 100 mm can be clamped, for example IPE 120 to 160, HEA 100 or HEB 100.
Fastened on the head plate with our Lindapter LR M12 beam clamps.
What is placed on the head plates is chosen by the user and is the user’s responsibility: the beam, its fastening and its dimensioning are not part of our scope of supply and not part of the DEKRA test.

Components, not ready-made lifting equipment. Rhönkonzept supplies the Bautri components. Assembling them into a portal and using it are outside our scope of supply and the responsibility of the user.
- The DEKRA test (tensile and compressive loads up to 3.3 t) applies to the Bautri system, not to the beam, its fastening or the stability of the portal.
- Whatever you place on the head plates – formwork beam or steel beam – you select, dimension and fasten yourself.
- Lift the load only vertically at a fixed anchor point – no beam trolley, no diagonal pull.
- Never stand under suspended loads.
- The portal is not intended for fall protection of persons.

What is tested is the Bautri system itself: for tensile and compressive loads of up to 3.3 t. The set-up as a portal with a beam is not part of the test. You as the user choose and take responsibility for the beam, its fastening and stability.
Which beam do I need?
For lighter loads a formwork beam, fastened with adapted formwork heads. For higher loads a steel beam with a flange width of 60 to 100 mm, fastened with our Lindapter LR M12 beam clamps. The Bautri systems reach up to 4 m in height; the span depends on the beam. Which beam you place on the head plates and how you dimension it is your responsibility.
Do I need Bautri Work or Bautri Rescue?
For material loads Bautri Work is sufficient. Bautri Rescue is additionally certified for fall protection of persons in the tripod configuration. As a portal, both are used exclusively for material loads.
May I use a beam trolley on the beam?
No. The hoist hangs at a fixed anchor point and pulls vertically. A travelling load changes the forces during operation and creates lateral loads that are not considered here.
